The Constitution is, once again, toilet paper.

Tonight goes to show that VERY FEW people in DC take their Constitutional oaths seriously.

By a wide 60-38 margin, the Senate rejected Senator Rand Paul's amendment proposal that would have revoked the suspension of habeas corpus in a bill that declares America a "war zone." 

That's right, dear readers.  There's the possibility that you can be declared a "terrorist" and locked up with no Constitutional rights.

And with the rise of the Tea Party in the last almost 3 years, and the rise of OWS in the past 2.5 months...this isn't any coincidence, in my opinion.

Find out how your Senator voted.  Perhaps it's time to do a bit of a Senate cleaning next November.  I know I'm going to be doing some Senate cleaning in my state (Indiana).  Time to primary Lugar OUT!

And as an extra treat: Watch McCain and Paul talk.  See McCain's "WAR ON TERRA!!!" justification for the bill.

Work as hard as you can to get the Bill KILLED!!!!!!

"Cyber Monday"

Because Black Friday being pushed back to Thanksgiving Day wasn't enough.

Well, Christmastime has kicked off. 

And take it from me: Unless you're seeking a plasma TV, video game console, laptop, camera, cell phone, or any such thing, standing in line isn't worth it.

What I'm Thankful For

OK, now that my belly is full, it's time to list what I'm thankful for.

• I'm thankful for God and His wonderful grace.
• I'm thankful that I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, and a belly full of food (as well as more food to survive).
• I'm thankful that I am alive and well, in general good health.  Also, that I can see, hear, walk, talk, and normally function.
• I'm thankful for the great feast today.
• I'm thankful for my family.
• I'm especially thankful for my loving, accepting, and supportive father, who accepts me for who I am.  He could have rejected me but he didn't.  Thank God for that.
• I'm thankful for the education I have received, for the degree I have earned, and for the new educational journey in which I will embark next fall.
• I'm thankful for my awesome friends, from my childhood to college to my Ron Paul and GLBT meetup friends.  You guys and girls are the best! :)
• I'm thankful for all of the recreational and educational possessions which I have.
• I'm thankful for the opportunities I have.
• I'm thankful I live in a country that is based on liberty.  Such liberty may not be as manifest these days, but I'm thankful that I'm born with liberty bestowed upon me, rather than have it "given" to me by a government.
• I'm thankful that I have someone to vote for, a candidate who believes in liberty, peace, free markets, and Constitutional principles: Congressman Ron Paul.
• I'm thankful for finding the GCN: It helped me to realize that I can be gay AND a Christian and be accepted in the eyes of the Lord.
• And I'm thankful for being thankful. :)

LOL, Who Takes This Clown SERIOUSLY?!

I don't know about any of YOU, but at Thanksgiving, I'm concentrating on food, football, the Black Friday ads from Best Buy, and whatever's going on with my family.  Politics and especially CULTURAL ISSUES will be the LAST things on my mind that day.

Paul and Chili Cheese Dip

I don't know what it is about it, but it's one of my favorite holiday appetizers.  I don't know if it's the taste, the appearance, or what.  It's just...great.

I remember the first time I tried it.  It was Memorial Day weekend of 2001.  My Dad and I went over to my Grandma's house.  The usual first day of the summer season meal was laid out: grilled foods, fruit, salad, pop, desserts, chips, and dips.  But one dip stood out: chili cheese dip.  I'm sure they served it before, but I never ate it.  But for some reason, I wanted to try it, especially since they told me that I should.  So, I took a scoop, put it on a small paper plate, put a couple potato chips on it, and tried it.  It was like Heaven on Earth instantly. 

After that, I made sure that chili cheese dip was on the menu at every holiday function wherever I went. 

If you want to know how to make it, it's simple: can of Hormel chili (Hot no beans) and Velveta Mexican Mild cheese.  Mix them in a microwave or crock pot.  There you go.

And I can't wait to have some with my Thanksgiving meal tomorrow!

A Candidate With Class

OK, looks like Ron Paul is now subject to the 99%'s "mike check."  And let's say he REALLY puts them in their place.

Do Tea Partiers REALLY Want Newt in 2012?

Is Newt Gingrich an appropriate Tea Party choice?  Let's see:

-He voted to raise the debt ceiling four times (one, two, three, and four).  With the ruckus that Tea Partiers are raising about spending and the debt ceiling, this does not look good.

-He voted in favor of creating the Department of Education.  The quality of our education has gotten worse thanks to more federal involvement,

-He supported health care mandates during his political career and in his 2008 book Real Change, and has within the past year tried to flip-flop on the issue.  Obamacare is a major battle right now.  If Newt is nominated, the Obama Campaign will rehash his previous support for it and current flip-flop, making Newt look like a hypocrite. 

-He supports ethanol subsidies.  The last thing we need is more subsidies and more cronyism.

-The global warming ad with Nancy Pelosi.  Nuff. said. 

-Flip flop on Libya.  He initially supported it (flip) and then condemned it (flop).  Senator Rand Paul also took a great shot at him!  Looks like Mitt Romney isn't the ONLY flip-flopper in this race!

-He endorsed a cap and trade system during a PBS interview in 2007.  Another anti-liberty position.

-He said he would have voted for TARP.  So, Newt's another crony capitalist.

-He supported Bush's prescription drug plan.  But the program is turning out to be a failure.

-And let's not forget his social con views: Family Values, no mosque at Ground Zero, draconian drug tests, and the like.  But he's a thrice-married womanizer who once supported drug legalization. 

It's hard to TRUST Newt, let alone SUPPORT him!

Thanksgiving Week

Well, that time of year is coming.  The time of year to be thankful for what you...er...I mean...be a glutton, gain a gazillion pounds (add another gazillion when Christmas and New Year's come a mere month later), deal with the family, and watch football and/or the parades and/or the Christmas movies that start that night.  Some may go to the Old Country Buffet if they don't have family, don't want to cook, or don't want to see family.  Some go out of town and don't celebrate at all.  Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I usually go to my Grandma's or sister's house.  Occasionally it's done at my house.  We have a small gathering, usually consisting of my parents, grandma, aunt, uncle, sister, brother-in-law, and two nieces.  Turkey, Puerto Rican rice, mashed potatoes, bread, potato chips, chili cheese dip, and drinks are served.  Then, it's back home to relax.

This year, it's off to the sister's house!  I can't wait to see what awaits, especially after a year like this...

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Although gays are facing their share of uphill battles right now, let us not forget the transgendered...who probably have to face double what gay and bi people face.

"But He Can't Win!"

So, after church and lunch, my Dad and I decided to head over to a local gun show.  It was your typical set-up:  guns, knives, weapon paraphernalia, and outdoors paraphernalia.  Oh, and there was a Ron Paul 2012 booth as well, which was our intended place to meet some friends from the local meetups.  So, we spent the afternoon greeting the local gun owners, talking to them about Ron Paul and what he stands for. 

There was one man who stood out, however.

He already knew who Dr. Paul was, and he liked what he had to say.  However, as is the case with most, he had his reservations about the Congressman's foreign policy.  The typical misinterpretations of the Good Doctor's foreign and military policies.

Now, onto the point of my entry.

Even though I've heard this line like a gazillion times, it seemed blogworthy and memorable for some reason.  The man said: "He just can't win."

Okay, fine.  He's not polling as high as Governor Romney or Former Speaker Gingrich nationally.  However, Congressman Paul is polling as a front-runner according to mainstream polls in Iowa.  And the Iowa caucuses are only a month and a half away.  A victory for Paul in Iowa historically changes GOP politics.

To those who are worried about Gingrich (and I'll admit, I worry at times, too): As the weeks go by, Newt has to work hard to keep his front-runner status as the skeletons in his closet come unveiled.  And if the former Speaker loses his front-runner status, as Bachmann, Perry, and Cain have, the only "non-Romney" left is...RON PAUL!  People will realize that he is the right man for the job, and with the way things are going economically, internationally, militarily, and morally, he will be the choice. 

But such is beside the point.  I addressed him by saying "If every single person said what you said, which probably amounts to at least a few million, Dr. Paul could, no would win!"  It's the defeatism and lesser-of-two-evils attitude, in combination with the two-party duopoly, that contributes to the degredation of our great country.  We don't have any real choices.  We have to "hold our noses" and vote for the big spender, or the warmongering neo-con, or the progressive in conservative's clothing, or whatever. 

If you agree with their viewpoints, fine.  I'm just saying that according to my views, we can do better.  Look at 2008.  We had John McCain.  JOHN MCCAIN.  The GOP nominee that made Bob Dole...No wait...Walter Mondale look like a formidable nominee.  Do we really want to make the same mistakes of 2008?  Just settle?  Why can't we have someone that will get us excited about voting for him, a man that will draw not only conservatives and libertarians, but also moderates, independents, undecideds, youth, ethnic minorities, intellectuals, and even a handful of progressives...basically everyone?  Barack Obama won handily in 2008 amongst the 18-25 crowd.  Ron Paul, who is more often on the side of GLBT equality than not, who supports ending the War on Drugs, who supports ending the wars and our pseudo-empire, who realizes that these young people (and I'm one of them) are on the verge of having absolutely zero future because of the policies of the previous and the current administrations, would take a significant chunk of the youth vote away from the current Commaner-in-Chief. 

I'd love to be watching the TV on November 6, 2012 and seeing the headline: "CONGRESSMAN RON PAUL DEFEATS PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA IN HISTORIC LANDSLIDE." 

So, I say: YES, RON PAUL CAN WIN!!!!  But it's going to require relinquishing a defeatist attitude first. 

But, hey, at least he gave a $20 donation to the local Ron Paul organization!  And we did get a few other people interested in the campaign and the message, also.

So, all in all, a very good day!

The EU rules against basic common sense

When I first read this, I thought this had to be a joke, or an exaggeration.  But it isn't.  The EU truly ruled that water "cannot be sold as healthy" or as the best way to rehydrate the body.

Don't believe me?  Read it for yourself, here.

The opening line of the article: "The EU was ridiculed last night after it took three years to issue a new rule that water cannot be sold as healthy."

These people shouldn't be just RIDICULED...they should be locked up in a mental institution.

Sad to say...but the insane are in charge.

Libertarians vs. The Tea Party

This video is dead on...especially when it comes to the neo-con and theocratic stuff.  The Tea Party went from being a legitimate small-government grassroots movement to just another GOP 2.0, an attempt to revive the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld-era neo-con policies as well as the Moral Majority and an anti-intellectual atmosphere.

In my opinion, if the Tea Party was a legitimate small government movement, they'd at least try tone it down on the warmongering and gay hating. 

It's Time to END This War!

It should have never even been waged in the first place.  However, the bloodthirsty neo-cons in the previous administration thought otherwise.

Occupy Scott Lively!

Okay, okay, okay.  I know a previous post of mine wasn't the most "Occupy"-friendly; however, as I mentioned in that entry, I support the right to protest and to be angry.  It's just the *people* I have a problem with.

That being said...

Here is an Occupy I can REALLY support, in both the protest itself AND the people protesting!  In fact, I think the GLBTQ community and their allies should host their own "Occupations" in their area, at places such as anti-gay churches and organizations.

The following is an AWESOME video of the "Occupiers" staging a little "OCCUPY HATE" rally against Scott Lively, the anti-gay preacher who is allegedly one of the American preachers that "helped" Uganda when its government tried to pass a law that would criminalize homosexuality.

The "Occupy" Movement

OK, so now I'm going to start blogging about current events.  In this entry, I will cover Occupy Wall Street.

The "Occupy" Movement started in New York City in mid-September and has gone viral, both nationally and internationally.  Although there is no clear message, the primary issues that appear to be on the protesters' minds range from crony capitalism to "income inequality" to social issues to even the existence of capitalism.  Despite these disparities in a particular message, one thing is clear: People are angry at the status quo.

The main point of this entry: Is Occupy Wall Street good or bad?

Being angry itself and protesting corruption is not wrong.  In fact, it shows that people are recognizing that something is going on in this country.  Our government is in bed with corporations, big banks, big labor, and special interests.  And more often than not, those special interests and big bucks take precedence over We the People.  That is something that needs to be made known to the general public. 

However, those participating?  They ruin the cause, turning it into one major negative. 

Comparisons are also made between Occupy and past and present causes.

Some compare this to the Tea Party Movement that sprung in the beginning of 2009 (although the real Tea Party began in December 2007) as a result of President Obama's statist policies.  But how many Tea Party events do you know had two-month campouts?  How many Tea Partiers defacated and urinated in public?  How many Tea protests had people blaming the Jews for the financial collapse?  How many Tea Partiers made it harder for businesses (and I am referring to small and medium businesses here, not the mega ones) to operate on a daily basis?  Were there ever rapes at Tea Party demonstrations?  Did any Tea Party protest have to deal with outbreaks of tuberculosis (I know you're probably thinking; "TB?!  That's sooooooo last century!"), STDs, and hosts of other diseases and health hazards?  Did any Tea person ever deal drugs?  Was anyone ever murdered at a Tea Party event?  Other than the fact that both groups are angry at the status quo, the comparison is downright laughable. 

Some also compare the protests to the anti-war and civil rights protests of the 1960s.  But the comparison is invalid.  This article outlines some of my reservations with the Movement above, plus it also calls out many of the protesters' unrealistic demands and beliefs, as well as the fact that many are young, naive, and idealistic. 

Occupy doesn't have a whole lot going for it when it is endorsed by statists, communists, Nazis, Islamists, and Big Labor.  It takes away the whole "grassroots" image of it.

So, how do I answer the question "Occupy Wall Street: Good or Bad?"  My answer: It was an initial good that turned into something bad.

And there you go.

Ah, yes.

There's nothing like relaxing on a cold November night, listening to some classic rock, and Facebooking. 

And the fact that the holidays are coming adds to the joy.  Nothing like having Christmas music shoved in your face (or rather, forced upon your sensory receptors) from November 1st-January 2nd.  Oh, and the rampant materialism, too.  And the family drama.  And gaining weight when I'm supposed to be losing it.  And the parties.  And the seeing friends.  And going to Church on Christmas Eve.  And the being single on New Year's Eve...AGAIN.

Oh...whatever.  I have a love/hate relationship with the holidays.  More love than hate, but there are still the negatives.
